On 15 October 2026, FSSAI issued a draft notification proposing amendments to the Food Safety and
Standards (Contaminants, Toxins and Residues) Regulations, 2011.
The proposal introduces maximum residue limits (MRLs) for two pesticides in tea: Acetamiprid and
Imidacloprid.
The proposed MRLs are:
20 mg/kg for Acetamiprid &
50 mg/kg for Imidacloprid.
Objections and suggestions, along with supporting information if applicable, may be sent to
regulation@fssai.gov.in or addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, FSSAI, within 60 days from the
date the Gazette notification is made available to the public.
