Special Holi Anti-Adulteration Drive by FSSAI

As the festive season are arriving, FSSAI Launches Special Festive Anti-Adulteration Drive to Ensure Food Safety During Holi, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has initiated a comprehensive drive to ensure the safety and quality of food products. In light of the increased production and demand for sweets, savories , and milk products such as ghee, khoya, and paneer during this festive period, there is a significant risk of food adulteration, which can compromise public health. The “Holi – Anti-Adulteration Drive – 2025” is a targeted effort to enhance surveillance and enforcement actions across all States and Union Territories (UTs). This initiative is crucial in preventing the sale of substandard and unsafe food products.

Key elements of the drive include:

  1. Enhanced Inspections: Designated Officers, Food Safety Officers, and Central Food Safety Officers will carry out thorough inspections and sampling within their jurisdictions. These measures aim to identify and mitigate instances of food adulteration effectively.
  2. Immediate Testing: The deployment of Food Safety on Wheels (FSW) and Food Safety Officers at key entry/exit points, hotspots, and major markets will enable on-the-spot testing of food products. This approach facilitates prompt
enforcement actions against any violations of food safety regulations.
  3. Collaboration and Reporting: States, UTs, and Regional Offices of FSSAI are required to submit a consolidated report by March 31, 2025, detailing the outcomes of the drive. This will help evaluate the effectiveness of the initiative
and identify areas for further improvement in enforcement mechanisms. FSSAI’s proactive measures underscore its commitment to safeguarding public health during festive celebrations. By ensuring stringent monitoring and proactive
enforcement, FSSAI aims to prevent the circulation of adulterated and unsafe food products, thereby protecting consumers and maintaining trust in food safety standards.

As we celebrate Holi, let us prioritize the consumption of safe and high-quality food products, ensuring a joyous and healthy festival for all.
